This hybrid of our own owes its name to its characteristics. There are many small hairs on the pitchers, so the plant feels soft to the touch. The pitchers feel like velvet, hence the name. And it is not only the hairs that are striking; the brown-coloured veins of the pitchers are also characteristic of this plant.
